This week, a new website that exposes the dark side of conservation was launched by environmental writer and researcher, Chris Lang.
Conservation Watch aims “to shed light on how indigenous peoples and local communities continue to pay the price for conservation,” says Chris.
It will hold to account those responsible for human rights abuses and landgrabs in the name of conservation, as well as highlighting positive examples of community-based conservation to encourage a more sustainable approach to habitat protection.
The site will feature posts from Chris, as well as contributions from and interviews with a range of people working in the field of protected areas and a weekly round-up of global news on the issues.
Take a look at the website today, subscribe, comment – and become part of this crucial and controversial discussion about the real impacts of conservation in the Global South.
